In previous years of Image Processing Research, Images are only considered as a pattern of discrete valued pixels ( descretized on the basis of Resolution ).
Images are discretized because we can only process signals when they are in discrete form because we cant handle too many values of analog domain. This was considered in the previous time where computing power was not good , although it is still not good to do Analog Processing but we can start a move towards that.
Further below i will explain a bit about how Images can be processed as a Continuous Domain Signals instead of treating them as a combination of discrete valued pixels.
